Welcome to MAPPEN Online Learning

What is it?

MAPPEN Online Learning provides teachers with access to learning sequences that they can assign for their students. We have modified our integrated learning sequences, which had been designed for delivery in the classroom, into Online Learning activities designed specifically for an individual student learning from home.

The Years 3-6 sequences are designed for students to work through independently.

The Foundation and Years 1 & 2 sequences may require additional teacher or parent support such as:

  • assisting the student in understanding what they are doing,

  • explaining unfamiliar language and concepts,

  • clarifying misconceptions and provide additional examples,

  • participating in discussions about what the child has learnt.

Each activity is broken down into individual steps. We have provided all of the videos, images, documents and links to websites that are needed to complete each activity. Where required, we have tagged the need for students to have internet access, a printer or additional materials.

Built into each step is an audio player which reads aloud instructions that are written on the screen. As the audio plays, words on the screen are highlighted. This feature supports students who have difficulty reading to understand the instructions.

Getting Started

Setting up your Students

Your students will log in to MAPPEN Online Learning using an automatically generated six-digit access code. To add students to your account, complete the following steps:

  1. Manage your students by clicking on the Students link at the top of the page (or via the hamburger menu if you are on a phone or tablet).

  2. Click the 'ADD STUDENT(S)' button at the top of the page.

  3. Add your students’ names to the textarea, ensuring each name is separated by a new line.

  4. Click the 'CONTINUE' button.

  5. Confirm your students’ names have been divided correctly and fix any mistakes. Once you've checked click the 'FINISH' button.

  6. Your students will automatically be assigned a unique 6 digit access code. You can download your classes access codes as a PDF or as a spreadsheet from the Students page.

  7. Provide instructions to your students, explaining how to log in using their access code. Students log in via this link https://homelearning.getmappen.com/login. We have also created a letter that teachers can send home to students explaining MAPPEN.

2. Assigning Activities

When students log in they are only able to see a list of activities you've assigned to them. To assign activities to your students, complete the following steps:

  1. Click on one of the Learning Sequences that has been modified for Online Learning.

  2. Click on the activity that you want to assign to your students.

  3. Click on the 'ASSIGN TO CLASS' button at the bottom of the page. Activities that have been assigned will appear with a Green clipboard on the Learning Sequence page.

  4. Note: All of the activities that you assign, will be visible to all of your students. You cannot assign some activities to some of your students.

3. Tracking Progress

Once a student has completed an activity, they can click on an 'I’M DONE' button. MAPPEN Online Learning provides teachers with the ability to see which of their students have viewed and completed each activity. To view the progress of your students, complete the following steps:

  1. Click on the Students link at the top of the page and then click on VIEW PROGRESS.

  2. Here you will see a grid of all of the activities you've assigned, showing which have been viewed or completed by each of your students.

  3. You can also drill into a specific student or activity to see more detail via the "View Progress" link within the table.
