MAPPEN Gala Launch a Huge Success!
On Wednesday the 5th of August we officially launched MAPPEN. We were very excited by the turnout of teachers, schools leaders, education consultants and media from around Victoria.
Brian Nankervis got the evening off to a great start with his typical wit and humour; leading the audience in a 'traditional poem' to start the evening.
Karen Green explained the journey that lead us to creating MAPPEN. Hearing her journey of 40 years in education condensed into five minutes was powerful; as was understanding the rationale behind MAPPEN.
Amanda McCallum then took the audience through a live demonstration of MAPPEN. There were many 'oohs' and 'aahs' to be heard in the room. It was clear that MAPPEN is a huge leap in online curriculum delivery.
Katie Penhallurick from Alexandra Primary School and Sarah Brittain from Mill Park Heights Primary School gave great testimonials. Their passion about MAPPEN was captivating; it was inspiring hearing the benefits of MAPPEN from curriculum leaders in schools.
Julie Wilkinson the Principal of Solway Primary School spoke about the adoption of MAPPEN from a leadership perspective. Her teachers had previously spent considerable time planning units themselves and Julie sees MAPPEN as a way to get teachers back teaching. Curriculum design is best left to the experts, to those whose primary focus is to know and scaffold what needs to be learnt and how it needs to be learnt.
Dennis Yarrington the president of the Australian Primary Principals Association announced a partnership with MAPPEN. He said, 'This new resource has the potential to raise the bar for all teachers within a school and for all Australian primary schools.'
